Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the therapeutic insertion of very fine needles into specific acupuncture points on the body. Many societies have practiced acupuncture for thousands of years to alleviate illnesses and reestablish balance within the body. In addition, thousands of modern research studies have shown the great benefits of acupuncture for countless ailments. Acupuncture regulates vital substances to create balance and harmony.

Traditional Chinese Medicine & Herbal Supplements

Traditional Chinese herbal supplements provide another healing tool to instill health and balance. Herb medicinals can help specific ailments, maintain health and prevent illnesses. Adding supplements can make up for the parts of our diet we can be missing. Only an educated, trained herbalist should recommend specific herbs or formulas because of the strong effects herbs can cause.

Cupping

Cupping is a therapeutic technique using cups and suction on the skin to relieve pain and numerous other complaints. Numerous studies have shown the efficacy of cupping in muscle and sports recovery as well as pain relief. This technique was recently made popular by the Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and other talented athletes who use cupping for quicker muscle recovery and pain relief.

About Dr. Janssen

Living a natural life in harmony with nature and the environment has always been an essential part of my life. I was the young girl in middle school buying World Wildlife Fund T-shirts and a stack of books about recycling and environmentally conscious lifestyles. This passion continued through my teen years and college with making my own natural and organic beauty products like shampoo, face serums, clay face masks, and deodorant. I dreamed of being able to make these kind of products for others to enjoy
My journey in healthcare began at St. Agnes Hospital in 2010. At 16 years old, I became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) through my high school’s Youth Apprenticeship Program. During college, I worked in the Medical Imaging department of Agnesian Healthcare as a CNA and majored in radiologic technology and nursing at Marian University during my undergraduate studies. In my heart, I knew there was another more natural path I wanted to walk. I then started studying traditional Chinese medicine at Midwest College of Oriental Medicine and graduated in September 2018 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition and a Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine. Continuing my insatiable passion for learning, I graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in August 2019 with my Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.
Through my education and experiences, I've learned the value of living a harmonious life as the backbone of health, and the techniques of traditional Chinese medicine (acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition, exercise, and massage) help us achieve this balanced lifestyle of wellness. I truly love sharing and educating my patients and community in these beautiful therapies, seasonal living, and lifestyle changes.
Outside of work, I’m usually keeping myself busy outside as much as possible. In the summer, you’ll find me hiking nature trails across the US. I’m completely obsessed with honey bees, and I’ve had my own beehives for the past 10 years. When the temperatures drop in winter, I love a good Kurt Vonnegut book with warm tea and cooking deliciously healthy foods.
